The idea for this post came after a conversation with one of my clients about her experience learning English. Her story — marked by the fear of getting things wrong and the shame of “not being good enough” — echoed many others I’ve heard over the years, especially from those learning French.
Each of us carries our own learning story, deeply coloured by our school years.Sometimes that story is positive and empowering. But more often, it’s filled with frustration, comparison, and doubt — the quiet belief that “learning just isn’t for me.”
But that belief is a lie. It’s something you were taught to believe, often long ago — by a teacher, a parent, or a system that didn’t know how to see your potential.
Today, you owe those voices nothing. You can let them go.
Ask yourself:
👉 What would you say now to those who once made you doubt yourself?
As children, we have little choice but to follow the system. As adults, we can choose differently. Why put yourself back into learning environments that trigger stress or shame, when you can build your own — spaces that feel safe, curious, and empowering?
Learning is not about conforming to a method. It’s about discovering who you are as a learner. You learn best when you build on your strengths, when you listen to your rhythm, when you let curiosity guide you.
Enjoyment isn’t a luxury in learning — it’s a necessity. Because joy opens the brain, anchors memory, and fuels progress.
So, give yourself permission to enjoy learning.Make it a journey of self-discovery and freedom. You don’t need to be perfect — you just need to stay curious.
