You’ve made your decision: this year, you’re going to learn French. Wonderful! But a key question quickly arises: where do you start when beginning (or restarting) your French learning journey?
The first step is to determine how much time you can realistically devote to French each day. And good news: you don’t need long study sessions. Five to ten minutes daily are enough to set meaningful progress in motion. Over time, these small steps lead to significant results.
To build confidence and develop all your skills, aim to read, write, listen to and speak French every single day. This can be woven into your routine through simple habits:
reading a short article,
listening to a podcast or video,
writing a sentence or mini-journal entry,
speaking a few words with someone.
Most importantly, choose content that feels enjoyable and relevant to you. Languages are meant to be used—not endured.
Of course, speaking can feel like the most daunting part. Starting a conversation, keeping it going, daring to try… none of this is easy. Yet without speaking, building confidence becomes impossible. That’s precisely why babble breaks exist: warm, relaxed spaces designed to help you practise without pressure.
So ask yourself: today, did you read, write, listen to and speak French? If not, don’t worry — now is the perfect moment to begin.
Grab your planner, choose your daily French moments, and take the first step toward your success. Your French journey starts today.
