#9 Language learning tips and tools
I wonder how you feel about dictations? Does it bring back good memories or bad ones?
It is an exercise I used to enjoy. Good job to as it was and still is an unavoidable exercise in French and Swiss schools.
Dictation is not so commonly used when learning French as a foreign language though. It is a shame because it offers several advantages as a language practice.
Obviously, it tests your listening and writing skills. But is also draws on your knowledge of spelling, grammar and conjugation. What was that verb ending again? How do you spell that adverb? What accent should I put on this e?
TV5 Monde offers a wide range of tools to learn French, one of them is Les dictées d'Archibald at level A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. Why don't you give them a try? Take it as an opportunity to vary your learning strategies.
Happy learning!
