Investing in ongoing training is an essential part of my professional practice. Continually learning isn’t just about acquiring new skills — it’s also about stepping into the learner’s shoes: feeling their doubts, hesitations, and progress. This perspective is invaluable for offering guidance that is both effective and empathetic.
In May and June 2022, I completed my first MOOC on the verbo-tonal method. One image from the course left a lasting impression on me: the Wood Wide Web, the invisible network through which trees and plants communicate via their roots. Three elements define this natural communication:
a clear intention,
a message that is understood,
an appropriate response.
This metaphor resonated with me because it reminds us that communication — whether plant or human — relies on a subtle flow of information, sometimes silent, but always essential.
2025: Deepening Pronunciation in All Its Dimensions
This year, I participated in the first autumn 2025 session on phonetic remediation, offered by Fonetix.org and led by Sébastien Palusci. It allowed me to take my understanding further, particularly through an in-depth exploration of the verbo-tonal method.
It’s important to note that this approach goes far beyond simply reproducing sounds. Beyond phonetic correction, it focuses on everything that shapes the musicality of a language:
prosody,
rhythm,
timbre,
accentuation.
This holistic approach to speech produces far more significant results than working on isolated sounds alone. It’s not about correcting a single sound — it’s about adjusting the way we perceive, feel, and let the language resonate.
By testing these techniques with my learners, I could see just how deep, intuitive, and transformative this method is. Most importantly, it can liberate the speech of anyone learning French.
Towards a Pronunciation Workshop That Is Engaging, Practical, and Effective
Thanks to the concrete tools I gained during this training, I am now preparing a pronunciation workshop specifically designed for my students. The goal: to help them speak French with greater ease, fluidity, and confidence.
This workshop will help learners to:
sharpen their perception of sounds,
naturally integrate the rhythm and melody of French,
improve clarity and intelligibility,
enhance the overall impact of their speech.
Just like in the Wood Wide Web, the most important transformations often happen beneath the surface: in small adjustments, invisible resonances, and the dynamic connections that link us together.
Finding Your Voice in French
If you want to improve your pronunciation, speak more naturally, and gain confidence, I would be delighted to support you.
I will share updates about the launch of my workshop soon.
Because speaking is about connecting. And because good pronunciation is not just about sounds — it’s a way of inhabiting the language with accuracy, presence, and joy.
